ok, it?s taken me longer to get my thoughts together on this than i expected, but here is the reason that i have come to have doubts in the divine nature of the bible; its failure to show that the god it describes is abiding by "his" own standards.. for example, according to 2 peter 1:20, the entire bible is inspired of god.
the main attributes of "god" are that "he" is love (1 john 4:8), "he" is just (deuteronomy 32:4), and "he" has all of the power (revelation 7:12).. with that in mind, my first problem with the bibles authenticity is that this ?loving god?
murdered the entire world of men at one point in history by drowning them.
The bible is just a Book.. Written by a god knows who, about a bunch of mythological stories that make no sense to the modern person. That is all it is. No one can prove to me without doubt that any of those stories are true, unless I have blind faith. For one to follow it today is as ignorant as those that believed the stories thousands of years ago.

the pope was also against homosexuality/ sex before marriage but none of them stopped practising sex because of what the pope believed did they?

i have heard many urban myths associated with the watchtower society and its hapless adherents.
i like the one where an "interested one" accepted the invitation to attend the memorial one year, and sat next to a "sister" who let the confused attendee use her bible to look up scriptures as they were presented.
afterword, the "sister" walked the man up to the circuit overseer, who had delivered the talk that year, and introduced the dupe-filled "study" to the co. the co complimented the man on his spiritual interest and asked what impelled him to come up and talk to him.
Work progressed so slowly that the parrot learned to imitate the Watchtower Study conductor, even calling brothers and sisters by name!
I am surprised the parrot didn't start giving public talks.
The one I heard as a kid my sister told me this story as if it happened first hand was the one about the kids playing with the wigi board. One of the children who was either a JW or was studying asks the board who their leader was and the board answered Satan. The board also said the time was short and that Armageddon was coming soon.

my friend that is a devout catholic has told me many horror stories of christians sending pamphlets to catholic churches telling them that they will burn in hell.
i was igronant of the anti-catholic hatred that is taught in many born-again christian churches.
A born again friend once told me that some RC are OK as there are "Charismatic" Christians that are also RC. I once mentioned about the Pope stepping down due to his health and she said he wouldn't do that as there are a number of men within the church that want to reform the church. Maybe it is about time they get into the 21 century but that is a whole different topic. As far as the man is concerned, he is only that. Like others have said on here there are thousands of people that die every day that have contributed to the betterment human kind just as much as Pope John Paul has. What makes him so special? Just because he happens to be the leader of a group of people that believe in fairytales?

an elder told me the book is jehovah's latest provision to cleanse his organization.. he said soon all people that have drifted, inactives, and others baptized and not complying with the biblical mandates for a jw, will be visited and given an option to shape up or ship out.. he said that if the person refuses the help offered by the congregation they'll be notified of the date of disfellowshipping and given time to appeal the decision.. he was so happy stating that this way jehovah's organization was preparing for the final clean-up before armageddon.
he sounded so convincing that it almost made perfect sense what he was saying.

I say to those that take this all lightly, do you really think that your government is always working for your best interest at all times? Do you take everything at face value? Maybe if there was an independent investigation into the 9/11 events, without government interference, all hearings/inquiry panels open to the public, there would be no conspiracy theories. I don't believe everything I hear and that goes on both sides. The conspiracy people bring up some good valid points but unfortunately it?s the extreme wacko stories we hear about that discredits their whole story. I am not saying that the government was behind any conspiracy but how far will a government go to get us into a war that they have already being caught in a lie about WMD??? Some of those war hawks at the pentagon mentality are that sacrificing 3000 lives is nothing as long as the ends justify the means. The war hawks have been planning this war for the last 15 years; they just used the 9/11 as justification to complete their plans of world domination. So whither the conspiracy theorists are right or wrong, all these things play into their hands.

All these cases prove is if you have enough money and can hire some high paying slimy lawyer and he can bring enough doubt in the minds of the jury, then you will be found not guilty. I recall an interview with Johnny Cochran and they asked him if he thought OJ could have murdered his wife and you never seen so much slide stepping of a question. I think he does know that OJ did it but his pat answer was that the prosecution didn't prove their case. So again guilt or innocents comes down to if you are able to afford a good lawyer or not.
